About Michele Tokach
Michele F. Tokach is originally from Hazleton, PA. and currently resides in the Conyngham Valley area of Pennsylvania. At a very early age Michele was interested in art. Her parents owned and operated a photography studio and custom frame shop. This afforded her the opportunity for the start of commission work, as well as, learning the skill of custom framing.
Michele had taken drawing and painting classes at the local art league outside of school, while being trained in commercial art, in the area’s vocational school. After high school, she went on to the Art Institute of Philadelphia to earn a degree in Visual Communications. After graduation, she worked as a Graphic Designer for several printers, before starting her own design and advertising studio. She designed logos, brochures, print advertising, book illustrations, catalogs and the like. During which time, she continued taking on commission work. Several years later, Michele traded in the design and advertising business to pursue the avenue of fine art, full time.
While she’s not limited to one area, due to either travel or commissions that take her elsewhere, she finds that the beautiful state of Pennsylvania provides her with a variety of subject matter to choose from, regardless of the season. In some cases, Michele starts the process of a painting, en plein air, to capture the essence of the scene, to later finish it back at her studio. The most recent addition to her body of work are figurative paintings, to be announced when completed and ready for display.
Michele has had her work on exhibit in a variety of galleries, fine gift shops, conventional and unconventional outlets. She has participated in short term shows for galleries, museums, and fund raising events. She has provided corporations and private clubs with commissioned work as well.
Michele’s own home and studio have become a “gallery” showcasing her paintings as patrons visit, and commission her for a variety of works, be it a landscape, lake scene or their private property.
Michele has worked in an assortment of mediums, but finished works are painted exclusively in oils. She understands and is invigorated by the process of learning the medium, and how to make it work for her.
Michele finds inspiration in everyday scenes. The beauty and intricacies of nature, as well as, the awesome design of the human figure, is of great challenge and delight for her to paint. She continues learning and sharpening her skills of observation and application. Such an endeavor is never taken for granted. She is grateful for the opportunity and the building process of it everyday.
